Bachelor of Individualized Studies: Creative Media for Film & Digital Arts

The Bachelor of Individualized Studies (BIS) focused in Creative Media allows students to creatively design a program of study that explores the breadth of their academic interests, career goals, and personal aspirations.

Who Can Apply:

Students will have the opportunity to apply for the Creative Media Institute in one of three ways: as a entering freshman to pursue a four-year degree, a student from any of the other colleges on main campus, and as a student from the two-year campuses.

Admission Requirements

Students seeking admission to the Bachelor of Individualized Studies focused in Creative Media must meet the general admission http://www.nmsu.edu/~admision/require.html
and the basic skills requirements of New Mexico State University. For admission into the CMI program, applicants must:

Submit a BIS/CMI application to the CMI Review Committee for selection to the CMI program. Applicants are encouraged to submit their application by the suggested deadline. Interview may be requested. Application must include:

• Narrative Statement

• Résumé
• Academic Transcripts from Prior Institution(s)
• Two Letters of Recommendation 

A student accepted to CMI will enter the university in their first year as a student of the College of Extended Learning. 

After completing 28 hours at the university, including general education courses, students may apply for acceptance into the Bachelor of Individualized Studies (BIS) focused in Creative Media program.

 

Graduation Requirements

Students graduating with the BIS/CMI degree must complete a minimum of 131 credit hours to include:

• The BIS/CMI approved program of study in Digital Filmmaking or Animation

• NMSU general education requirements

• 2006-2007 CMI Application Form (download here)
• Narrative Statement (original and three copies)
• Résumé (original and three copies)
• Academic Transcripts from Prior Institution(s) (only one copy required)
• Two Letters of Recommendation (original and three copies)

Application Submission:

The application should be submitted as simply as possible. No plastic folders or fancy bindings are necessary. Paperwork should be stapled in the upper left hand corner with pages numbered. Please make sure to include the requested number of copies (original + three copies for the application form, narrative statement and resume).
