Itinerary

CMI students on set

The 10 days of activities featured at StoryCasting will encompass:

  • Screenwriting
  • Directing
  • Production
  • Post-production 

Students will use professional techniques and tools as they collaborate to create their films.

Example of StoryCasting Camp Itinerary

Day 1

  • 10AM to 12PM - Check-in to dorms
  • 12PM - Orientation luncheon for parents and students (pizza and tours of CMI will be provided)
  • 1PM - Orientation for parents and students
  • 3PM - Begin pitching and interview sessions
  • 6PM - Dinner
  • 8PM - Ice cream social

Day 2

  • 7AM to 8AM - Breakfast
  • 8AM to 12PM - Grip and electric workshops
  • 12PM to 1:30PM - Lunch break
  • 1:30PM to 5:30PM - Camera and writing workshops
  • 5:30PM to 7:30PM - Dinner
  • 7:30PM - Movie in the THX theatre

Day 3

  • 7AM to 8AM - Breakfast
  • 8AM to 12PM - Sound and producing workshops
  • 12PM to 2PM - Lunch break
  • 2PM to 6PM - Editing and writing workshop
  • 6PM to 8PM - Dinner break
  • 8PM - Free time at the activity center and swimming pool

Note: 1st drafts of scripts are due by the end of the day

Day 4

  • 7AM to 8AM - Breakfast
  • 8AM to 12PM - Directing and cinematography workshops
  • 12PM to 1:30PM - Lunch break
  • 1:30PM to 3:30PM - Writing workshop (finalize production scripts)
  • 3:30PM - Divide into 4 teams (A, B, C, D) of five crew members (Director, Writer, Art/Editor, Producer/1st AD, Cinematographer)
  • 5:30PM to 7:30PM - Dinner
  • 7:30PM - Auditions and call backs

Day 5

  • Pre-production begins: all-day intensive workshops in assigned areas

Day 6

  • Finish pre-production (location scouting, script breakdown, shot designing, scheduling, art pre-production, tech scouts and rehearsals)

Day 7

  • Film A and Film C shoot with Team B and Team D as below the line crew

Day 8

  • Film B and Film D shoot with Team A and Team C as below the line crew

Day 9

  • Director, Writer, and Art/Editor edit films.
  • Cinematographer and Producer/1st ADs edit "extras" in teams of two (behind the scenes, bloopers, camp video re-cap)

Day 10

  • 7AM to 8AM - Breakfast
  • 8AM to 11AM - Check-out of dorms
  • 12PM – Final presentation in THX theatre for participants and families, screen films and extras
