Welcome Back, Students!

Hello students! Spring 2021 is upon us, and we are all excited to have you back for another vibrant and creative semester.

Due to the continued spread of the novel coronavirus, we highly encourage students to complete schoolwork by connecting to one of our many virtual desktops. Information on the connection process can be found here: https://cmi.nmsu.edu/how-to-use-the-virtual-desktop/

Additionally, you may access the Post-Production and Animation Drives from home by logging into the DaVinci server at https://davinci.nmsu.edu/student/ For a full visual guide to this process, please visit our page on connecting to DaVinci.

If you are unable to connect to a virtual desktop, you may reserve a spot in the CMI Screenwriting lab from Monday to Friday. The Animation and Post-Production Labs will not be open for the Spring 2021 semester. If you need to use the Screenwriting lab, you must register for a time slot at least twelve hours in advance. Registrational instruction and forms, along with operational hours can be found here.

Lastly, if you are attending in-person or hybrid classes, please be sure to review and abide by the University’s guidelines concerning the pandemic. Testing for students is provided through the Aggie Health and Wellness Center. Call ahead and arrange an appointment if you have reason to suspect you may be ill.

Over the course of this semester, we will be happy to announce a host of informative guest speakers holding discussions and lectures over Zoom, as well as online activities such as watch parties and student clubs. Additionally, in spite of the limitations imposed by COVID-19, faculty, alumni, and students are still hard at work producing films, animations, and documentaries in novel, creative ways. Keep your eyes out for these announcements by following us on Facebook and Instagram, as well as joining the official CMI Discord server.

Looking forward to a great semester! Keep safe and stay creative!
